My Favorites

One of the most frequent questions I get asked is, “what is your favorite supplement?”. So in response to this question and to make it easy for you, I’ve compiled a list of my personal favorites.  This list is comprised of supplement brands that I have either personally used or researched.  These are high-quality, top brands you can depend on to do their job.

And to make it even easier, I’ve provided two super-easy ways to grab your supplements.

The first list is dedicated to my fellow reflux sufferers.  I hope you all find relief and a path to recovery. Be sure to download a copy of my Reflux Rehab guide if you haven’t already!

1. My Favorite Reflux Supplements

  • This combines DGL (deglycyrrhizinated licorice), Aloe Vera, Slippery Elm, and Marshmallow Root. These components are great for soothing and calming inflamed and damaged tissue.

  • Probiotics are made up of essential, good bacteria that are necessary for proper digestion and overall gut health. Most people with chronic symptoms have compromised gut health and need more healthy, friendly bacteria.

  • This is a powerful antioxidant and has anti-inflammatory properties. It may help with gut function, the immune system, and protect the intestinal lining.

  • This herb is known for its ability to form a protective layer over irritated, damaged tissue.

  • This herb contains mucilage which is known for its ability to coat mucous membranes which can help soothe and calm pain and burning. According to Very Well Healthit is necessary to drink plenty of water and take any medications a few hours before or after using Slippery Elm.

  • Aloe Vera Juice offers antibacterial and antioxidant benefits as well as the ability to soothe damaged tissue. Aloe also offers support to the digestive tract and may help with IBS symptoms according to HealthLine.  Be sure to buy only decolorized, purified aloe vera juice (do not consume aloe vera gel).

2. My Favorite Gut Health and Immune Building Supplements

When chronic symptoms are present it is often a sign that the body is not absorbing enough nutrients which in turn means gut health is compromised. These supplements may help get immune-boosting nutrients back into the body as well as boost gut health.

  • It is estimated that 80% of Americans (and those in other developed nations) are low in magnesium. Low levels of magnesium can contribute to anxiety, depression, sleep issues, low energy, brain fog, and more. Magnesium glycinate is more easily absorbed than other types of magnesium and typically won’t cause laxative effects.

  • B12 and folate are extremely important for brain function and energy. They are also two of the most commonly deficient nutrients due to many factors. The best type to take is sublingual or lozenge. Also, look for methylcobalamin on the label and avoid the synthetic version; cyanocobalamin.

  • Vitamin D is another often deficient nutrient for many people.  Vitamin D needs adequate magnesium levels in the body to properly process as well as vitamins A and K. This particular formula (one I’ve personally been using for years when I found out I had a vitamin D deficiency) includes A and K which makes it an easy way to get enough of A, D, and K. Symptoms of vitamin D deficiency include hair loss, dry skin, bone and joint pain, fatigue to name a few. It is best to get D levels tested when taking a vitamin D supplement.
